Every Little Thing is Going to Be Alright
You know those little reminders that life sometimes tosses your way? Like the time you almost fell off your Parents roof, and for just a minute you appreciated life more than you ever had before. Or that time when the Tornado was approaching and you hid in your basement waiting for it to pass…all...

The Power of a Tiny Mosquito
Just when I wasn’t sure what kind of motivational Monday topic I would write about today, along came the buzzing annoyance of a mosquito in my ear…….and I instantly knew what I’d be writing about. “If you think you’re too small to make a difference, you haven’t been in bed with a mosquito.” – Anita Roddick...

Cycling, Coffee, Beer, and the Goods
I’m surrounded by a lot of like minded people in real life and on social media, and it’s pretty simple to see the commonality between all of us. Yeah, we all have our individualities…..but there are some common bonds that always come to the surface. I call them “The Goods”. Those happy things in...

Who’s Living a Happier Life?
It’s a question I often find myself thinking about. Who’s happier, the lawn maintenance guy who cut grass for a living and makes a low income…..or the wealthy business man who spends his days in a high stress, fast paced environment? We all crave money, right? So the rich dude must be living the...

I Didn’t Think I Could Do It
How many times have you caught yourself saying something like, “Wow, I didn’t think I could do it?” I’ve said it, you’ve said it, and so have millions of others. Yes, un-planned actions that don’t contain much in the way of self-belief do still happen sometimes. But do you know what happens significantly more? ...

Everything I Need
I’ve talked many times about living the simple life. You know, that attitude of “the less you own the less that owns you.” I often speak about the idea of only needing my Family, my Bike, and Computer. I wonder what life would be like if that totally was the case. A song lyric...

#MakeitHappen Advice from Summer Moak
Sometimes it feels as though we aren’t making much progress with our training. If you train day after day, and don’t immediately see HUGE gains, it can be somewhat discouraging. That is sort of how my 2015 road racing season has been thus far. I have been trying to transition from the women’s cat...

When I Grow Up
I look at those kids who at the age of four know exactly what they want to be when they grow up. I never was one of those kids. At least I can’t remember knowing, or ever being told about my childhood pledge of future occupation. One thing I do remember saying (or at...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
