What do you say when your mind goes blank? Or better yet….how do you say it? Even though you have such wonderful words inside you, they just won’t succumb to the task of putting inner visions to sound. In the mind, these letters dance around and form magnificent speeches full of energy and brilliancy…..but...

@garyvee and @jannarden Help You #MakeitHappen
In July of 2012 I wrote a post about confidence, self-esteem….and the difference between them. It’s an important realization that helped me bring far more awareness to the importance of self-worth and self-respect. Oh and in it, I also talked about how Canadian musician, @jannarden and the world of social media fits into the self-esteem...

George Carlin State of Mind
It’s been over six years since we lost George Carlin, but his wise words still linger around the world. “We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve conquered the atom but not our prejudice. These are the days of two income Families, but more divorce….fancier houses but broken homes.”...

Hurtful Words: Don’t #MakeitHappen
How come we so often find ourselves putting up with things from people we don’t even know, and doing so with a smile on our face….yet with those closest to us, we treat even the slightest aggravations as if they are the end of the world? I think this is another one of those...

Right Now – Because YOU Matter
I am honored beyond belief to share this amazing #MakeitHappen story by my friend (and Loving the Bike Army General), Eric Hutchins. All I did was ask if he’d write a post about how the song “Right Now” changed his life, and what I got in response was this incredibly emotional and inspiring story. Right...

Don’t Vacation…Travel. #MakeitHappen
I’ve never called myself a vacationer, even though I’ve taken holidays all over the world. To me, a get-away is not a chance to fall into the customized tourist trap….it’s the spirit of adventure. I call it traveling, and this is so much different from taking a vacation. When I was younger I wrote...

Make That Your Reality
Over the years of working in the tourism industry of a Caribbean island…the number one comment I hear from people leaving to go back home is “It’s time to go back to reality”. My response to them is always, “this is reality”. Reality is what we make it. For some reason we often feel as if reality has...

Life’s Little Instructions
When I was younger, my Mom bought me a couple wall hangings called “Life’s Little Instructions”. They were full of great little sayings and were created by a Dad who wanted to pass on life lessons to his kids. I loved looking at them, and would often get reminded of the right lesson...

Fist Pump Celebration
I’m all about celebrating small victories, especially those that happen on a bicycle. But something I experienced while on a ride last week helped remind me just how important it really is. I rode past a guy jogging as I made my way towards the airport where I looped around to come back. As...

Success is for YOU
I can remember it clearly, although sometimes I’m not sure if it was reality or a dream. I was sitting in the waiting room of a physiotherapy office years ago in Canada. I began talking to an old man who had one of those oxygen masks attached to his face and had a canister...

Enjoy the Competition. Enjoy Your Ride
Before moving to the Caribbean, one thought that ran through my mind was the idea of possibly learning a new sport or activity that would suit me perfectly. I was of the belief that maybe there was a sport out there that would come naturally to me. A sport that wasn’t even offered in North...

If Life Were a Cup of Coffee
If life were a cup of coffee, I would brew mine especially strong. Almost undrinkable. Very thick. Very dark. The cup would be extra large. Filling as much into it as I could. The first sip would be difficult, it would be very small. But the tingle on my lips would quickly send me...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
