He accumulated wealth. Found accolades and honors along the way. He had stayed true to himself and yet still became an immense success. You could call it luck. Chance, maybe. But it never was like that to him. He didn’t think of it as an achievement. It wasn’t about all of that. He was...

I’m Just Living a Life
This Machete is Not a Weapon
She was walking alone on a Tuesday morning. She wasn’t isolated from civilization, but was out in an area without much traffic at that time of day. She had no other purpose than simply wanting to get some exercise and inhale the impressive scenery. A man appeared in the distance walking towards her. She...

I’ll Meet You There
I know exactly what I want. In fact I can even feel it. It’s a confidence that everything is going to be okay. It’s a place of safety, warmth, fun, and happiness. I’ve visited it a few times, but only for fleeting moments. I dream about it often….endlessly. I’m sure everyone chases their ideal...

Goofing Off
What if you were to waste an entire year? Spending all 365 days just goofing off and doing whatever you felt like without considering what “should” be done or what the “right” thing to do was. Well, if you lived to be 85, you would have spent 1.18% of your life goofing off. Looking...

Feeling Alive
Why would anyone jump 45 feet into freezing water, or ride a bike 7 hours in the rain up and down mountains? And why would someone train so freaking hard to run a marathon? There are so many things that people do…things that make your body hurt…things that take all the will and mind power...

Innocence
There is a word in the English language so precious it can only be used in special sentences. It can only be uttered when describing the world’s most valuable things. Most of the time, only used for a period of one’s life. A word, where if used to depict human nature, would result in...

Beauty over Substance
The lake was glass calm. The kind of calm that makes me re-live the Summer of 1990 all over again. Skiing every day. Brown leather skin. A calming of my own going on inside me. We drove up to the lookout tower so we could not only see the lake, but the other 4000...

Putting the Fun Back in Life
We were driving into town yesterday morning. As we approached, the Caribbean morning hustle and bustle had already started. The truck ahead of us slowed to a stop so that they could make conversation with the woman standing on the sidewalk. As we sat there waiting patiently, we witnessed the woman talking and laughing...

The Purpose of Life, is a Life of Purpose
Ever notice that when you have a specific training goal, you’re able to focus much better on the bike? Well, that same concept applies to all things in life…..only problem is most of us don’t create or find a purpose. The purpose of life, is a life of Purpose. I first saw this quote in...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
