Life Happens While You’re Making Other Plans

In my opinion, this Lennon quote is the simplest and most accurate depiction of life ever put down in words. Yeah, we’re all so busy.  We all have a bunch of things on our mind and dreams we wish to fulfill…..but along the way life is happening each and every day. This is not...

@garyvee and @jannarden Help You #MakeitHappen

September 29, 2014

In July of 2012 I wrote a post about confidence, self-esteem….and the difference between them.  It’s an important realization that helped me bring far more awareness to the importance of self-worth and self-respect.  Oh and in it, I also talked about how Canadian musician, @jannarden and the world of social media fits into the self-esteem...

Fist Pump Celebration

August 11, 2014

I’m all about celebrating small victories, especially those that happen on a bicycle.  But something I experienced while on a ride last week helped remind me just how important it really is. I rode past a guy jogging as I made my way towards the airport where I looped around to come back.  As...

You just have to see the backdrop used for this edition of Loving the Bike TV.  Grenada is not a very big place, and it’s so awesome to see all these people “shaping up for Carnival”.  There has been like 200 people out there every day for the past week.  I Love It. Watch...

Loving the Bike TV: Freedom On and Off the Bike

June 4, 2014
By

We all talk about that feeling of freedom that the bike gives us.  It’s been that way since we first pedaled off on our own.  No arguments there at all….it’s an amazing feeling that I’m so glad I have in my life. But I feel we should all create freedom in other areas of...

I can’t remember which of my Make it Happen posts it was that evoked this response from my friend David.  I’ve had his comments sitting on my inbox since that time because it’s both enlightening and gratifying for me.  So I thought I’d branch out from it and write a post. Here’s what David had to...

Weight Loss: It Takes More Than Cycling

Cycling is an incredible way to get in shape and lose weight, but with the risk of sounding kind of negative…..I’m here to say that it’s going to take more than just cycling. I can bust my butt each week with over a hundred miles of grueling training, but if I’m eating like crap...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
