Here’s a little dose of “feel good” from my crazy buddy, Duzer to kick off this Make it Happen Monday. Once again I’m featuring the Duz one more time, but how can I help it. This dude just keeps pumping out such inspirational bikey goodness, so it’s hard not to want to share it...

Make it Happen Monday: Pay it Forward
We’ve all heard the phrase, “Pay it Forward”…but what we might not realize is just how big of an impact it can have on someone’s life. Today, we share the story of two cyclists who had their lives changed forever and are so grateful that they continue to Pay it Forward. I’ve been thinking...

#bikeschool: Because I can!
As many of you will remember I spent a week in July at Le Tour with @SteamyWynndows & @AndyMWild and as a result of that trip, ended up the proud owner of a limited edition Team Sky jersey signed by the riders. Since returning from the Tour I’ve been determined to make that Sky...

Make it Happen Monday: The Holstee Manifesto
I’m going to let a great video and manifesto image from a company called Holstee do the talking today. This company believes in the same things we do over here at Loving the Bike, and they have a great way of expressing it. Check out their manifesto and then watch their inspiring bikey video...

#bikeschool: Championing the Champions
Unfortunately due to the ridiculous nature in which our planet has decided to rotate through space and influence time and seasons, I missed last week’s #bikeschool session (9pm EST if you hadn’t got the hang of it yet). This was unfortunate for 2 reasons; the obvious being I didn’t get to have my...

Make it Happen Monday: Create Your Own Culture 2.0
In last week’s Make it Happen Monday post, I talked about one of my life hero’s, Morrie Schwartz, and his quote about Creating Your Own Culture. As a follow-up to that post, I wanted to dive a little deeper into this topic and talk a little more about following your own star. Consider the...

Make it Happen Monday: Create Your Own Culture
One of my favorite quotes of all time is: “The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say, if the culture doesn’t work, don’t buy it. Create your own.” This is a quote by a man named Morrie Schwartz, a retired college...

#bikeschool: Rockschool
If you were at last week’s #bikeschool Live you will have seen that I asked a question about music to ride and train to and asked for your favourite choices. Some people were rightfully skeptical about listening to music on the bike which I would dissuade you from. But that’s OK because LovingTheBike.com...

#bikeschool: WyndyMilla
As LovingTheBike’s designated UK dude I’m really excited about today’s article and the news we are spreading. Although WyndyMilla is a UK based company, their influence is spreading across the globe quicker than Magnus Backstedt can crack a bottom bracket and they are doing some great things in the Pro Peloton as well as...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
