Kits, Kits, Kits

Jersey design is a tricky business… but it’s not THAT hard!  We are hoping to produce another LovingTheBike.com team kit this year after the success and interest we had in our 2012 edition, which you can see below modeled by The Boss. There has also been a #bikeschool jersey, which captured the imagination of the taco eating, noggin...

Loving the BITE: Nut-Free Training Fuel (updated)

Raise your hand if you, or someone you love, is affected by food allergies.  Both my hands and one foot is up.  Like many, I’m the mom to three kids with food allergies.  And, of course, I work with many clients with food allergies.  So, when a request comes to provide dairy free, or...

It’s time once again for #30daysofbiking, and 30 days of good times on your bike.  About the only thing better than spending April riding your bike all 30 days, is being a part of Team #LovingtheBike and all the goodness that comes along with it. For the past two years we’ve taken part in...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
