One of the coolest things that I’ve come across since starting this Loving the Bike site is learning about all the people out there living Car-Less. I’m totally amazed by what these people are doing and have the utmost respect for anyone who has chosen to take this route in life. There is also...

40 Feet
Have you ever heard the quote, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”? I think it was Confucius who coined that one. How about this one…“The journey of a cyclist begins with the first 40 feet”? When you set off for a ride, you’ve most likely got an idea...

You just can’t beat the phrase, “Please BE KIND to Cyclists” when it comes to conveying our feelings towards motorists. Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
