Last week we wrapped up another fantastic month of riding our bikes every single day as part of the #30daysofbiking event. This is the third year that we’ve kicked things up a bit over here at Loving the Bike, and added an extra dimension with our points system. There was a lot of great riding...

#30daysofbiking and #30daysofgoodness Has Begun
Today is the official start of #30daysofbiking 2013….and for many it will be the beginning of a love for cycling. Not often does something come along for the sole purpose of creating goodness. When @patiomensch and @zachamon, launched things on April 1, 2010 I knew right away that this was going to be something good. I...

Well Done, Team Loving the Bike
Another #30daysofbiking has just wrapped up and it’s totally safe to say that this has been the best one yet. #bikeschool: 10 down, 20 to go
We are already a third of the way through #30daysofbiking and Team #LovingTheBike is ‘performing’ really well. As one of the team Road Captains I thought it would only be proper and correct to sing your praises and try to raise the morale even higher with a run down of some of the last...

A Tribute to Team #LovingtheBike
I still look back on the month of April 2011 with freaky fond memories. It was a such a great month of teamwork, fun times, and bikey goodness. Being involved in the #30daysofbiking challenge is enough of a good thing in and of itself, but banding together with Team #LovingtheBike and doing this thing...

Team #LovingtheBike for #30daysofbiking
If the whole #30daysofbiking thing wasn’t exciting and challenging enough, we’ve now got Team #LovingtheBike created to make it even more fantastic. That dude, Sean Mellor from Bicycle Radio just had to stir things and come up with the idea of “Teams” for this years challenge staring on April 1. We’ve had a bunch...

Hashtag Tuesday: #30daysofbiking
I’d have to say that the very first cycling hashtag to ever catch my attention was #30daysofbiking. It was a genius idea by @patiomensch and @zachamon, and officially launched on April 1, 2010 (and I’m still kicking myself for not thinking of something like this myself). On April 1 they’ll kick off round three of #30daysofbiking….are...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
