Electronic Free Day…on and off the Bike
Quite a while ago our Family decided to make Sundays an electronic free day, meaning we wouldn’t use the TV, Computer, Phone, or any other similar device. We’re not generally electronic obsessed, but for this one day a week we make sure to keep them off and totally focus on quality Family time. It’s...

Simplicity….On and Off the Bike
I’ve always felt like Simplicity is the key to a happy and successful life. I’ve done a pretty good job at keeping things as simplified as possible, but feel that I need to go even further to really get the full benefits of what this way of life has to offer. There’s already been...

The Happy Gene
If I had “the happy gene”, I wouldn’t personally need these Make it Happen Monday posts to fire me up each week. But unfortunately I don’t have it. I honestly feel that some of us are born with DNA that makes us ultimately happy-go-lucky and are able to smile through each and every...

I Am a Cyclist of the World
I recently posted about how I (as a Canadian living in the United States) celebrated the Fourth of July on and off my bike. Along with having a great Independence Day ride, our Family spent some time at the local celebration going on in our neighborhood. Most of the people around here know that...

Make it Happen Monday: Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop
Other than my Family, cycling is about the only thing I’ve remained committed to over the years. Since I took up road cycling 8 years ago, I’ve had a Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop attitude to pretty much everything about it. On an overall level, cycling has become a huge part of my life and...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
