There’s a lot of words to describe the life that my Wife and I live. One that definitely makes the list is Reckless. Now that may not be something most people strive for… believe me, it’s not always the easiest way to live. We have lived and worked in different Countries, but that’s not...

Make it Happen Mondays
Wow, What a Ride
This is Me. This is #MakeitHappen.
There is a song inside me that is destined to top the charts. There is a need to be happy and in control at all times. I can see myself being someone who comforts people and makes them feel great. But also extreme anger, that at times makes me say things I cannot believe. Definitely...

Peace on Earth. Ride Your Bike.
For as long as history can remember, people have been making Christmas wishes. Speaking words of wisdom and prayers for Peace On Earth. Something we all want. Something so amazing that it’s hard to even imagine. Another year goes by. John Lennon sings out….”So this is Christmas, and what have you done?” Sounds of...

The #MakeitHappen Alphabet
What’s the first positive thing that pops into your head when you go through the alphabet? Anything can happen. Believe in something. Create opportunities. Dream. Eat Ice Cream. Forget about disagreements. Get involved only if you really want it. Help people when you really can. Invest in yourself. Invest in opportunities. Invest your...

I Don’t Get It. I Totally Don’t Understand.
Love me or hate me for it….but here’s a bunch of things about people and life that I just don’t understand: I don’t get the concept of racing to work in your car so that you can be there on time, or early. Aggravating all the other drivers (and cyclists) around you so that you’re...

You Want It, You Got It
I went for a 45 mile bike ride the other day. It was the first time I’ve ridden over 30 miles for a very long time. Generally my rides last just over an hour, and take me a distance of 20 something miles. Most of these rides are the same. I’m sort of limited to a huge amount of variety...

What is #MakeitHappen Monday?
We’ve been posting a #MakeitHappen article pretty much every Monday for almost four years. But what exactly is the point? There are two main reasons for kicking off the week with a dose of positive energy; to inspire our readers to start each week with motivation to achieve their goals, and to remind myself...

Remember
This week, Canadians and Americans remember National soldiers as they celebrate Remembrance Day and Veteran’s Day. In honor of what these holidays represent, I’ve put together a Make it Happen poem with a positive spin to help us all kick ass this week. Is it all just wasted time? Can you look back with pride...

Achieving Greatness Means Taking Risks
Greatness doesn’t come easily. In order to achieve something BIG, one must take a risk. Success doesn’t come knocking on our door, we must go after it and going after it means choosing an uncommon path. Gaby Douglas won Gold because she took a risk and moved in with a foster family to live...

Hedley Helped Save My Life
Ever heard of the Canadian band, Hedley? Well, as a guy who feels he knows good music….I highly recommend you give these guys a listen. Yeah, I’m originally from Canada but that has absolutely no impact on why I think this band totally rocks. First of all, they have been a musical hit machine for...

Life Happens While You’re Making Other Plans
In my opinion, this Lennon quote is the simplest and most accurate depiction of life ever put down in words. Yeah, we’re all so busy. We all have a bunch of things on our mind and dreams we wish to fulfill…..but along the way life is happening each and every day. This is not...

The Me Poem
Whatever it is that gets me to the dawning of the day. It’s totally unique, because I’m different in my own special way. You may not understand it, and choose to disagree. But you are not going to change me, this is who I’m going to be. I may not be exactly who...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration
Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea). I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.
My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.
Answer:
Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out. Have you tried either of these? Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
