“Everything is Better Once I Get on My Bike”

The world’s crashing, there is stress all around……but once you jump on your bike and ride it all just seems to peel away.  Yeah, you know what I’m talking about right? Everything is better once I get on my bike. I’m sure we’ve all said this phrase, but those were the exact words of...

I’m Just Living a Life

He accumulated wealth.  Found accolades and honors along the way.  He had stayed true to himself and yet still became an immense success.  You could call it luck.  Chance, maybe.  But it never was like that to him. He didn’t think of it as an achievement.  It wasn’t about all of that.  He was...

This Machete is Not a Weapon

She was walking alone on a Tuesday morning.  She wasn’t isolated from civilization, but was out in an area without much traffic at that time of day.  She had no other purpose than simply wanting to get some exercise and inhale the impressive scenery.  A man appeared in the distance walking towards her.  She...

A man sits down in front of his television set.  It’s not just an ordinary day….it is Super Sunday.  That’s right, it is the day of America’s favorite football game….the Superbowl.  Now this is not just any Superbowl game, it just happens to include his favorite team of all time.  He sits there anticipating...

Own the Moment

We are brave like a soldier Overcoming daily battles Scared of the darkness Always haunted by something nobody knows Full of potential Hidden deep in our sole Able to achieve more than we ever could believe Smart enough to know what we don’t know Knowing more than we think we do Holding tight to...

I’ll Meet You There

I know exactly what I want.  In fact I can even feel it.  It’s a confidence that everything is going to be okay.  It’s a place of safety, warmth, fun, and happiness.  I’ve visited it a few times, but only for fleeting moments.  I dream about it often….endlessly. I’m sure everyone chases their ideal...

Goofing Off

What if you were to waste an entire year?  Spending all 365 days just goofing off and doing whatever you felt like without considering what “should” be done or what the “right” thing to do was.  Well, if you lived to be 85, you would have spent 1.18% of your life goofing off.  Looking...

Feeling Alive

Why would anyone jump 45 feet into freezing water, or ride a bike 7 hours in the rain up and down mountains?  And why would someone train so freaking hard to run a marathon? There are so many things that people do…things that make your body hurt…things that take all the will and mind power...

Upward Spiral

The days were becoming more ripped and ragged than the Jimmy Hendrix tie-died shirt he had when he was fifteen.  The constant stress of life was firing extra beats to his heart.  He felt more confused than he was in his first day in Algebra class when he was introduced to algorithms.  And his head was...

There is a word in the English language so precious it can only be used in special sentences. It can only be uttered when describing the world’s most valuable things.  Most of the time, only used for a period of one’s life. A word, where if used to depict human nature, would result in...

For over three years now, I’ve been sending out a Make it Happen post each Monday…..and what I’ve always thought I was doing was sending out positive, inspiring pieces of writing mixed in with my own thoughts of the world.  Basically I’ve been pumping out self-improvement messages just like many of today’s best sellers and...

The lake was glass calm.  The kind of calm that makes me re-live the Summer of 1990 all over again.  Skiing every day.  Brown leather skin.  A calming of my own going on inside me. We drove up to the lookout tower so we could not only see the lake, but the other 4000...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
