Post Cycling Massage in Austin, Texas

I don’ think of massage as just a way of pampering my body, but as a way to help improve circulation, range of motion, and muscular efficiency.  But most of all, I look at it as a way of smoothing out all the wear and tear my body takes from hours in the saddle....

I know you know anything about me, you’ll know that one of my core values is wearing shorts, shades, sandals, and a t-shirt every day of the year.  A guy like that better have a whole bunch of t-shirts to choose from, right? Well, I can honestly say that the majority of my wardrobe...

Have you been on a wet or cool weather ride and found your sunglasses getting all fogged up?  Yeah, if you’re never caught without sunglasses on your face it can really mess up your ride.  But Ryders Eyewear have come up with what they feel is the ultimate solution. I remember talking to them...

Loving the BITE: See and Be Seen

A little over a month or so ago, I was asked to review a reflective vest for cycling in the dark. Since I’m often up long before the sun cycling, mountain biking, running or skiing, I thought this post would be a perfect fit…and, I hoped the vest would as well. When it comes...

Why Don’t Bike Socks Last Longer?

Okay, so I’m lucky enough to live in a climate that allows me to go sockless each and every day of the year.  But I do wear them when I’m riding.  But can someone explain to me why bike socks don’t seem to last? I have quite a few different pairs of bike socks...

Panniers and Paninis

Panniers and Paninis

I’ve honestly never ridden a bike with a set of panniers.  I guess it’s because I’ve never gone bicycle touring or had a reason to carry things with them on the ride. But I have finally had a need for panniers, so I contacted my friends at Detours to see if they could set...

Nuun Energy: Should You Take it on the Ride?

I’ve written before that I’m not big on all the energy drinks available on the market today.  I feel that water is the Mightiest Energy Drink of them all.  But I was recently asked to try out Nuun Energy, and seeing as I’m a Nuun fan I thought I’d give it a shot. If...

Long Bike Back

Over a year ago, I posted about the journey of two guys cycling across the United States to promote the Share the Road message.  Like all cyclists I know, I’m all for it and will do what I can to help get the word out there. Well, Pearson and Pete have completed their journey...

Fly6 (Combination Tail-Light & HD Camera) Review and Giveaway

When I was first contacted by Fly6, they were in the middle of their Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their unique product.  As the world’s first tail-light/video recorder, they had the mission to make drivers aware they might be recorded, so they behave appropriately. I was intrigued by their idea, and as you...

Sugar Alternatives for Energy and Hydration

Question: I am using the homebrew sugar formulations (sometimes added to green tea).  I am also trying to wean myself off 1/2 dose adrenalean “lip tonic delivery system” (biorhythm brand- caffeine, hoodia g, synephrine, yohimbe) capsule for energy.

My question is other than juice, can you suggest modifications in lieu of table sugar for energy and hydration.

Answer:

Both raw/organic honey or agave can work great in the homebrew (substitute in the same quantities for the sugar, or to taste), but you do have to shake well in order to make sure they don’t settle out.  Have you tried either of these?  Also, make sure to use at least the minimum amount of salt recommended in the homebrew as the temps rise, you need the sodium replacement if you’re sweating.
